Numerology Fortune Telling Systems; as diverse as Astrology by: Keith Abbott

Numerology, like astrology, has several different systems which have evolved over the years. These systems have the same basic principles, but also have major differences in how they prepare your reading. Here is a synopsis of the four major systems and how they differ. ===> Western Numerology Western numerology is the classic form of numerology derived from the work of the Greek philosopher Pythagoras in the sixth century B.C. It uses your Gregorian birth date, and places the numbers in a (3 x 3) square with positions numbered from bottom to top, and left to right as shown below. ( 3 )( 6 )( 9 ) ( 2 )( 5 )( 8 ) ( 1 )( 4 )( 7 ) Completed lines and missing lines in your chart denote particular character strengths and weaknesses. ===> Chinese Numerology Chinese Numerology also has ancient roots. It too places the numbers of your date of birth in a (3 x 3) grid, but instead of using Pythagoras grid above, they use the Lo Shu grid, based on the square of Wu of Hsia. This grid is numbered in a (3 x 3) magic square as shown below. ( 4 )( 9 )( 2 ) ( 3 )( 5 )( 7 ) ( 8 )( 1 )( 6 ) We call this grid pattern the square of Saturn. In addition, Chinese numerology converts your date of birth to the Chinese lunar calendar before charting the numbers. The Lunar calendar begins the year on the second new moon after the Winter solstice (the shortest day of the year.) Note that the lunar year consist of twelve months in a regular year, and 13 months in a leap year. Also, Chinese Numerology does not recognize a life path number. This is a Western innovation. ===> Nine Star Ki The Nine Star Ki system, more commonly called the Ki, also uses the Lo Shu grid shown above, but it then rotates the numbers each year, creating a set of nine different squares used in a nine year cycle. This system also uses the Chinese lunar year to calculate your birth date. The system has (3) major numbers which produce your reading: Your Natal (lunar) year number, your Natal month, number, and your House number. ===> Yantra Magic Square Numerology This numerology system is actually based on Indian Numerology Yantras. This system uses a constructed magic square where the top row (left to right) consist of your birth month, your birth day, your birth year (excluding century), and your Life Path number. The remaining rows are calculated by formula to complete a (4 x 4) magic square with these numbers, such that all rows, columns and diagonals have the same sum. The calculated squares each represent a particular character trait and are interpreted for the reading. The Yantra Square shown below is for actor Johnny Depp, who was born on June 9th, 1963. Note that all rows and columns add up to the sum of (85). ( 6 )( 9 )( 63 )( 7 ) ( 61 )( 9 )( 4 )( 11 ) ( 8 )(64 )( 8 )( 5 ) ( 10 )( 3 )( 10 )( 62 )
